Job title: Agribusiness Specialist

Reporting to: Programme Manager, Agriculture
Location: Nairobi

Purpose of the Position
The holder of this position will be responsible for developing and implementing innovative agribusiness enterprises / solutions for the Agency as well as spearheading promotion of agriculture as a business among the youth.

Duties & Responsibilities
i. Preparing and developing agribusiness training modules and manuals.
ii. Organizing agribusiness fairs, workshops and field visits for knowledge and technology sharing and transfer among the youth.
iii. Offering training to youth on Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs) in partnership with identified stakeholders.
iv. Developing quality concept notes and proposals for mobilizing resources to undertake agribusiness activities.
v. Working with other professionals, primarily from KARI in implementing professional mentorship of youth in Agriculture.
vi. Developing project papers and publications for disseminating relevant knowledge and technologies on agribusiness to diverse audiences.
vii. Working with scientists from KARI and other collaborating institutions in providing technical backstopping to farmers on specific aspects of agribusiness.
viii. Preparing and maintaining a database of relevant actors and service providers in the different agricultural product value chains.
ix. Analyzing and figuring out marketing strategies for the Agency’s agricultural produce.
x. Training and mentoring casual workers on the farm.

Academic / Professional Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Agribusiness Management, Food Security or any agriculture-related field.
Diploma and Higher National Diploma holders in the same fields may take advantage of this

Skills
i. Must be results-oriented and an excellent communicator both orally and in writing.
ii. Good Computer skills utilizing Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access,MS PowerPoint, Outlook).
iii. Strong planning and organizational skills.
iv. Good understanding of the operations of NGOs will be an advantage.
v. Good interpersonal skills.
